OK I've ditched this piston and ordered a new malossi piston kit

It doesn't look too bad to be honest - the slight scoring might have polished out with some fine wet and dry sandpaper. Is the cylinder bore OK and free from scoring, as it looks like you might have had a minor 'nip-up' of the engine rather than a full blown seizure? What state were the small end bearings in?

no soft seize that I know of, little end was replaced 2500 miles ago when I fitted the kit and still seem OK I think but will still put new one in , can you tell how its been running from the state of the piston
PS I'm a bugger for riding cold starts
edit: ye light marks in the cylinder (really light)

It looks like it's been running fine. You always get some slight scoring on the exhaust side of the piston as that's the thrust side.

shall I use a bit of wet and dry In the cylinder before I fit the new piston , if so will 1500 grit be ok if I don't over do it :)

Looking good. Lightly sanding the bore is called 'glaze busting', as it's not strictly honing the bore. It's just something to help new piston rings bed in properly to a used bore.

looks like you run it full throttle straight from cold, leave it a few mins to heat up after you start it

You can buy a Hone from Draper Tools for less than £20, got 220 grit stones, but i found with malossi pistons that you really need the longer stones for the same tool as they tend to catch a bit on the exhaust port.
