I notcied today after passing a few motorcyclists there was a nod of approval exchanged as we passed as in hey I ride bikes to! Do you do this? I never used to do it, until now I've noticed people doing it to me! We're all just a little community aren't we haha!
its been done for years...sort of a mutual appreciation/acknowledgement thing. Noticed recently tho' that less and less return the nod. Only time I dont is if I either miss it or am "on the case" and concentrating more on where i'm heading than whos coming the other way
Most noticed riding solo/distance,flying down a country road an getting passed o'side by another bike. Can be quite a poingant moment, esp.if your on a 100 and other'on a 1100. Almost like a sign of brotherhood in all its shapes and sizes!. .
Neglected to nod once or twice but I guess it's like an etiquette unwritten rule haha! shal make sure I acknowledge the nods! had a few wankers on massive 1000cc bikes taking the piss but a few have been courteous!
Not w.....s mate, more like 2wheeled pe... extensions "image"riders otr mostly to header a side if a lorry 'cause frankly some are complete an utter tw..s.
Only if I like the bike. I'd like to think everyone else does the same I'd probs do my neck in if I did it any more round here. I always nod back tho. Manners innit..
Think isolation can have alot to do with riders aknowledging each other. Notice a lack of it in london as most on bikes/peds have their heads to far up their own a...s to worry 'bout others generally found it quite different travel out in the countryside.
I give the nod and most bikers/scooterists nod back but as said the power rangers just ignore you, cos your on a "crap little scooter" that's not worth half as much as there sunny afternoon gsxryf Ichifanny 1000!
Haa,ha,ha....i'm not the one chasing tailights in heavy traffic/tearing side paneielier things off /boring holes light lazer beams in back of someones neck/veins throbbing to burst/cause i just spent 200 nicker on a designer cushioned bum bag decal thingamajig for my p/tank. No i'm just humble little old me riding my "crap little scooter",who has just blown your overpriced a.s offa da road.amen.
Many sportsbike riders dont acknowledge peds as they're not 'bikes'... only guessing here but it MAY be something to do with peds being of a similar ilk to scoots of old. Bikers and scooters traditionally never mixed due to mods and rockers My own feelings are that ped riders are possibly the next generation of bikers so give then an acknowledgement. only difference is that our learning days were done on peds resembling bikes more than scoots AP50's FS1E's as opposed to lambretta's & vespa's my own son started on his Zip SP but has now progressed to the pitbike and now his KX125. he desperately wants to take his bike test but will have to wait till he can get a job and pay for it himself ( i've got enough on keeping 4 cars -his included- on the road and my bike)
Did'nt know jack about scooters growing up!,always saw it more along the lines of a sub-culture thing, they were them an we were us.pretty much starting off on a n ap50 -the mods/rockers thing was very firmly entrenched into teenagers psyche /how you perceived yourself and your 2wheel choice of transport. This sort if behaviour can be very deeply embedded!,,and if i had the same associations i had when younger would probaly never had biught my 1st ped/scooter and missed out on one amazing experience!!.
This has turned out to be an interesting debate! you get some right tossers on big bikes! but you get the odd one who'll give you a nod or thumb up! Makes me smile when I get a nod no Idea why haha!
Bigger bikes....i've always wondered when given a wave/nod/grin by one of their ilk, whether it was out of amusement or genuine sense of camraderie. ! .
Theres a canny bunch of bikers down this way, westgate hill back the day was the place to be, got biker bar in whitley bay! so there is a bit of a community! but I remember few weeks back tosser on his big bike with a lass on the back undertook me laughing sped off and got pulled! haha!
Still working on feeding self back into scene a bit!,london can be a bit selfish/from what i've seen so far mostly bunch of know-it-alls,servicing a bunch of know-it nots (gotta be some major rip-offs /floating on that one!). Pizza delivery boys......what can i say..legally........best leave that one (unless u-want a tutorial on how to swear like an 18th century dockyard worker. . ). Take it down a peg or two,not always just 'captain 1100' and his latest 2 glasses merchant that can look down on you when riding your 'ped along/can be 100/125 jack the lads in occasion!, was riding my 'ped 1/2 mile>near flat-i'm a god.on two wheels sped by me on his 4.5 grand + new ped ( glue still drying on his l/plates) // looked over his shoulder at me on my humble little 'ped (28 yrs older) and smirked....like i was an insect to be squashed ' neath his imperious £250.00 trainered foot........3 seconds later said scion of the roadways the likes of which this earth is blessed to be graced with, got f.....g t-boned by mini-cab coming out of side road (front wheel/hello mr.spark plug) //write off,i really felt................
