my dna was running shitty so i took out the carb and opened the float bowl, sprayed car cleaner everywhere, reassembled, put in bike, bike wouldnt start :emb: only think i was unsure of the whole time was the coolant pipes, on the carb there is 2 coolant pipes going in, forgot which was which on reassembly, tried both ways. nothing,
i noticed the coolant seems to go straight through the carb anyway but i still might be wrong, which pipe goes to which(top and bottom) at the moment i have the the pipe that goes into the cylinder head in the top coolant pipe connector, so what can i try now before getting a workshop manual? and will running the bike with the coolant pipes oriented wrong damage the bike(i assume so at the moment anyway)

EDIT: just noticed im in the wrong place, can a mod move this please

heres an idea.. dont play wiht things you dont understand, especially if there working fine

now.. sounds like the carb is fuel free so whip the bottom off and make sure the float/needle and pin are all in the right place (can see what the float opens and closes when you move it up and down) have somone suck the vac pipe while you try out the float if your in doubt...

anyone got a pic of the carb wiht the pipes marked saved on there photobucket? i REALLY cant be arsed explaning this again.

ye.... ok, fair enough, so you stripped the carb to clean the jets... wihtout a clue as to what your doing (obviously)

if its a dell carb go on there website, all the pipe info is on there. aswell as full exploded diagrams of EVERY carb they make. bottom line youve taken everything off now it wonrt run, so somthing you have done is incorrect... work back through what youve done. chances are youve removed the grit from the jet and it will work fine once you figure what you did wrong.

coolant pipes go on ether, fuel is big, vac is medium, oil is small.... overflows are the same colour as the carb where as the fuel vac and oil are usually gold... the vac is somtimes the same colour as the carb altho its alot bigger than the overflows. wihtout a pic your not gonna understand anything i say too well tbh..

for future referance you can FULLY clean a carb wihtout taking a single pipe off it nor removingg it from the bike. most things you can literally spin the carb in the manifold wiht all the cables pipes and wires attached.

spark has probably gone due to you trying to start it wiht no fuel (lean as fuck) try a new plug.. is it actually comming out wet?

back at it today, sparking again, loose lead,if i put some petrol into the barrel she will start up and rev like the throttle is fully open, i must have the throttle seated wrong?
brought the carb into the mechanic next door and hes opened the bowl and blown it with air, wont start without petrol in the barrel already, getting there i suppose now.

would have been the prob in the first place ;) bung some oil in the fuel just to re lube the engine, its been running lean with the split in the manifold

out of curiosity rip in the manifold is uncurable right? ive discovered a rip in one i bought of some one off here (i havent used it yet so seems a waste to have to throw it str8 away)...or is ther no other choice

well, ye its fucked... can bodge it up with a few diff chemicals/compounds (impact adhesive/rubber cement/putty) but why risk fucking an engine up for the sake of a 15 quid part?

it seems a waste to throw a broken part away? you need to be a bit less stingey where vehicles are concerned. any transport cost's money.. nothing lasts forever. buy new

yea but when you spend 40 quid on a part and have to throw it away without even starting the engine up once it is taking the piss slightly especially conciderin this now means ive had to pay for the same part twice once where it just never turned up and i never got the money back and the second where its alredi fucked this now means 80 quid pissed down the drain without ever being used once im not asking cos im being tight im asking because it seems a shame to have to spend another lot of money on the shit
anyways thanks for the advice all the same ill be guess ill be buying another

ye, blah blah, argue the toss.... malossi/polini reedblock is identical to a stocker bar the reeds and backplate.

can get a just as good manifold for 12 quid (copy) you got bumped, you try'd to cheap out, your arguing the toss over sillyness...
