Has anyone else rode or still riding dirt bikes??..
I started riding a dirt bike around 1970..riding in the woods near my house...lots of trails..some dirt roads...you could spend most all day riding different trails...AWESOME!!
My ex-wife would get pissed off.... I was gone so much of the time
I still have my first serious dirt bike..bought it new in 1972. a DKW 125 Enduro...paid $950 for it..was maybe the second most expensive 125 at the time. A Penton was like $1200 I think & both bikes had the same 6 spd Sachs motor..
I rode it in a bunch of enduros and finally won a trophy in 1973 in Alabama...things seemed to go right on that day :D
So now I have 4 dirt bikes but don't get to ride them like I used to ... last went out on the street with the DKW and it quit a ways from home..had to push it back ..likely a dirty carb?
When its right it will plunk around in the woods dodging trees at a walk and go up to 65 on the street..

I used to do trials riding in my younger days, had a Fantic 125, then the 240, then a Bultaco 380. Loved it. Went into a few small competitions, never won anything, best ones were always in Wales, up and down river beds and dirty great big tree trunks and boulders. Still think about getting another one, but there is nowhere even close these days where you can go to practice.

Its amazing the things that some trials riders can do while keeping balance...they didn't have any organized trials events in my area...sounds like you were into it pretty good if you had 3 bikes...
Fantic made some unique machines..i remember a 125 chopper they made..not sure they were sold in the US ?
here is one pretty cool saw recently: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Montesa-Cot...wLUmgaYRycJ96gAmBKXn8%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I use to ride quite a bit of trials and had a few bikes in my time. It's great around Yorkshire as there's always plenty of events on and the running cost is pretty low as far as Motorsport goes. [IMG]

That's my daughter on her Osset electric trials bike last year they're. 36v and put out plenty of torque for the little uns.

Also dabbled for a few years at pit bike racing when it first took off years ago there was also racing for these at our minimto club which was great on some of the uks best kart circuits.

Cute kids on their little bikes...:)..good exercise for them and also dealing with the falls..those always come to a bike rider

It's great for there road skills and balancing etc. she actually had quite a big off at that comp and she got straight back on, shook me up though. She's now into skateboarding and longboarding which I think tbh is more dangerous.

Skateboards..:D..they look to be so much fun & easy to see how you could go down big time on asphalt..
Watch out for a blow to the head..don't want to go the way of Schumacher.. a man with SO MUCH to live for and so much $$$$...probably never come out a coma..:(:(
Ive an electric "powerboard" that's also 36volts...bout 3 feet long and has suspension on both ends...you can stand on it but it also has a seat...its claimed to go 25 mph..at top speed you just know that you could go down with a bit of provocation..always got my helmet on...
Some years ago I saw a skateboard that had a weedwacker motor on the back and a throttle on a cable with a pistolgrip & trigger you could squeeze..

it does, fitted them yesterday. i wanted to be THAT guy who comes up the top of a mountain on a sportsbike. fun stuff, tried it in the dirt yesterday, what a blast, mud and dust flinging up everywhere, back wheel spinning and front wheel lifting everytime it got traction, what a blast! just need to fix the rear shock

That is a rather odd combination.....of tires & bike...you need to get the knobbies into some deep MUD and spin up a roostertail

Here is a link to the Rupp 125 I have been working on lately...I inherited this bike from my nephew who killed himself in 2012.
My bike is not as pretty as this one but in decent shape..im not sure it will run as it has the Motoplat CDI which can be problematic on these motors...
