basically riding to work this morning was cruising along about 50mph and the bike just cut out as if i had turnd my ignition off. pulled up and it started straight away, off i went and it done it again and again every time gettin harder to start. now when i got recovery to come and pick me up i got home and now when it does finally start its very weak and you have to proper build the revs up before it goes anywhere, ive cleaned the carb, changed the spark plug and cant think of anything else it could be....... pleasee help need to get to work tommoro

could it be the reeds ?

    on i a piaggio zip 70 btw

check and clean up electrical connections e.g. spark plug cap, ht lead, coil, cdi maybe.

when the engine dies and will not start, whip the plug out and test the spark,

no spark and its ign related, strong spark then it could be fuel related or compression related ;)

electrical air leak or fuel.... choke could be stuck in the on position but this would be fine when its cold.. if its geting worser it probably is the rings/oil seal/air leek getting worse

set the thing up and build with ALL new parts... works for years with a few parts here an there...

main thing is build it right, every nut and bolt and it will work.. fix somthing when it wears out and it works.. wait and rag it/ignor when its tellin you theres sommin wrong an it costs more money.

its just a bike m8, they constantly need money throwing at them. deal with it or ride the bus LOL

    lool im not

but ye i spend more time in the recovery vehicle than i do riding

Everytime your bike cuts out you take the top end off and decide its fucked lol..
did you hve compression before you took the top end off?
    did u check manifold?
    reeds?
dont say u checked them just cos you lookd at them.. proper check

ye i checked compression, spark, cleaned the carb checked the manifold all looked fine there did seem to be compression there, i didnt check the reeds because i didnt have them star allan keys to take it off, the bike will still start but theres no power atall and very hard to start, i decided to have a look at the barrel and piston and the barrell seems fine but the piston is very slighty scored , the rings are also fine.

it was the piston the guy who had it before me when puttin the kit in has either forgotten to put the other sirclip in or its came out somewhere there is a very fine score down the piston and barrel and the piston is very wobbly in there :(
