Hey there people, any one know what the law is on deristricting a scooter? And also do I need to tell my insurance company?
If your 16 then it's illegal to derestrict a 50cc moped. The law state's it has to be restricted to 28mph! derestricting it will take it out of it's moped catagory, you may not have a licence to ride it and will have no insurance once derestricted.
i thought 50cc was meant to be restricted to 31mph? or has it changed again? don't think 100cc were restricted too ?
going to look the law up now, that's got me interested, you will need to tell your insurance company about it being derestricted if the scooter is restricted and you decide to derestrict it, im not totally clued up on 100cc`s but I think its just 50cc`s that are restricted
Yes, now knowing it's a 100cc and your age, no problem. I'm sure your scooter is not restricted at all. Only 50cc mopeds are restricted, to make your's faster then tuning parts are required. And any modifications should be made aware to your insurers, it's surprising how many people don't say anything!
