About a week ago the bike decided to get funny. It runned and rode okay but didn't start at all by kickstart.

Before it would start first or second kick, then nothing. Even
bumping it before it would start in <3m but I had to run to 6mph with it before it started!

I cleaned the carb throughly and it made it run a bit nicer but wouldn't start still. Tried a new spark plug and that didn't make any difference. The colour is perfect.

Then on Friday it changed to starting by the kickstart, but not revving past say quarter revs.

I have changed the ht lead, cleaned out the plug cap.

Then saw the hoses on the vacuum tap were wet so put another vacuum tap on and still the same problem.

Not sure they are sealing right though, the hoses I mean. Think they are too big but they have always been fine hmmm...

It seems that when the engine jumps it is throwing out shit loads of oil so I had a look at the oil pump and nothing seems out of place down there so I'm just thinking is the air/fuel mixture not right at throttle. Has the needle got caught or something or is that a stupid idea?

    Video

Ignore the taped seat, it's a temporary measure until I get it stitched. And it didn't start as the fuel line was empty.

It was up for sale and someone was gonna come round days after it went kaput.

    Help me :(

it maybe the wiring, have you checked the loom any bare wires
sounds like your not getting a proper spark when revving and the smoke will be unburnt fuel

i would start by checking the loom

does the ht cap screw on tight to the ht lead, try cutting a tiny piece of the ht lead so you have a fresh clean connection, i had a similar problem with my nrg were it wouldn't rev up a new ht cap and a trim of the ht lead sorted it

Hmm, I had a new loom, magneto and coil fitted in February/March sort of time.

Recently had a new ht lead like a week ago and it has been sat up as my insurance has run out and I'm doing my test next month.

The ht lead was tight both ends and the plug cap seems in good condition.

Forgot to update so if anyone has similar problems. A guy I know used to work in a garage had a problem with a tzr that was the same and that was the cdi. My coil and cdi are combined so I replaced it and now its worked (and has been sold!)

    Thanks for the help anyway

    Rally 50 you get me
Reed valve!! it can affect the starting and running massively

have you checked that is sealing? put it up to the light it should let no light through. one thing alot of people easily forget about
