Sup guys, im moving from a nrg 50cc to a derbi gpr 50cc to learn gears, i personally think its a stunner within the 50cc range in blue :). But im wondering what do you guys think about the bike and what would be the top speed of it BEING ONLY DERESTRICTED - And please put speed in MPH, Many Thanks :)

i used to get 60-65mph out of my old gpr so would expect around the same out of new one with only being derestricted if you use ALL of the gears at the disposal of your left foot properly :)

Sweet as, im finding them hard to find atm but hopefully one will pop up soon. Also Ive heard they sound and look and are the same size as the 125 ones. I am conscious about other road users and i have had a crash before. I have seen alot of people were full leathers on them. Would you look stupid or do you think that it would like fine. Bare in mind i live in Brighton = Roads are full of loose grit, Pot holes slippery surfaces and Wankers of car drivers.

ok cool, cheers for your advice man, its much appreciated. And with Brighton's so called "roads" i suppose i should be wearing my leathers because at the end of the day if your punching a 50cc or a 125, 600, or a 1000cc bike to even 40mph or 60mph your gunna fuck your self up, one way or another :p

i hit a renault clio head on, broke a arm and leg, cuts and bruises all over, i wear a jacket and gloves when riding a scooter regardless of weather now.
on a geared bike i wear full leathers, boots+trousers+jacket+gloves. probably wouldnt of stopped the bones being broken and bruising but would of stopped a load of the cuts and saved me being in a ton of pain.

personally i only wear helemt and gloves when going on short journeys round town because im quite confident the only way im hitting the floor is if i hit a car first, and leathers aint doing shit against a car!

any kind of decent journey though ill wear everything, im fortunate enough to have only skidded across the tarmac twice, both of which were in the rain. once at 60mph down a dual carriageway, once at like 20 round a corner carrying pillion. i never usually wear boots but both times i came off i had work boots on, and they saved my feet!

ahh yh that must of hurt, once i crashed and broke my right ankle which i still have problems with now and that was more than a year ago now. And yeah ive decided to wear full leathers wen i get the bike :p. When i had my NRG that topped out at around 55 - 60 (50cc Bore) :) I always wore my jacket, gloves and helmet, people used to take the piss saying why u wearing a jacket on that. I replied saying why you in a full body cast. They said im not then i say well you will be if u dont shut the fuck up lol. But yeah my jacket saved my whole top half of my body and im very glad i wore it. So wat r u currently riding bro ?

And yeah leathers wont do much against a car, but its going to protect you when u fall to the ground

me - nothing. waiting for a slot to come available to get module 2 done, then another few months and ill be doing 2nd test and ill be riding a restricted bandit 600 :)

cant be bothered with scooters right now purely because every one i get is rubbish and breaks.

btw leathers do help when you hit a car. dont want loads of cuts like i got? leathers will help and my uncle would say exactly the same. doesnt matter on distance. always wear leathers. i got cocky and thought only a 15 min journey wont really need anything on. boy was i wrong. leathers always on a geared. on a scoot mininum decent walking shoes - decent jeans- jacket and gloves.

to be honest ill be wearing my leathers more on a scooter, just for the fact they handle like shit and have wank brakes and weight distribution.

riding big stuff short distances id even go without a helmet if i could

haha i knew something like that was coming

to be brutally honest though, if you drop a big bike in the dry doing the speed limit, you shouldnt be riding it!
with the exception of getting plowed into by a drunk bloke in a flatbed lorry, then i can understand

shit happens. what if theres something in the road and you slide off because of it?
what if a pedestrain randomly walks out?
it really does not matter. you dont know whats coming around the next corner. you dont know what is going to happen on your next ride. and it doesnt matter what size bike your riding. can happen to all of us. ive had 50cc geared and rs125`s. always wear the right gear !

consider this though, youre doing 40mph on a rs50. how much more are you thrashing it compared to say; a triumph street triple 675? doing 40mph on a 50cc feels like youre doing like 90 and right on the edge, doing 40 on a 675cc feels like youre doing about 5.... and twin pot double discs compared to a single pot single disc, then the tyres on each. and the pure stability you get from a big bike.
rs125s dont have the same feel as proper bikes i dont think, theyre just stupidly fast small bikes because theyre so light
