I've recently bought this carb and I was wondering how much of a difference it would make on my Yamaha jog r. It has the crappy 12mm gurtner on at the moment. The original 50cc kit is back on because I basically ruined the 70 kit. Although it was only £40. Has anyone used one of these carbs on a 50 before?

No it wont, Jim. That carb is off an SP125. It too big for a 50, it will run like a bag of spanners. Get yourself a dellorto 17.5mm.

Okay, I did buy it for the 70 kit but I didn't rub it in properly

For 40 quid it probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway. If you want a 70 kit buy either malossi, although they have just increased their prices by 23% and suppliers are running their stocks down, PMTuning do a good ali kit, Stage 6 racing is also ok. But with a 70 kit max you want to go in general terms is 21mm carb.
Even with the standard barrel on it, if you upgrade the variator, better quality belt, slightly lighter rollers, sports exhaust, you should see the other side of 50mph.

Well I'm getting to 50 on the clock now but that's probably more like 45, I've got 3g rollers, stiff clutch springs and a Leo Vince zxr exhaust. I would like to get a nice aluminum 70 kit because the heat of the engine was my main concern with the old one

Sure is. are you running a uprated crank? as most ali kit rev to high for a standard crank?

No still got the standard One, I've seen a stage 6 crank for sale near me though, can't remember how much it was, he's also selling a stage 6 70 kit but I'm not sure which one it is

Its not buying the crank, its getting it fitted which is the pircey part. unless you trust yourself enough to split your engine.

I would tackle it myself, I'm confident enough, as long as I'm using the right tools and equipment I'll be fine,
