Ok i bought a dellorto 28mm phbh carb it has got 72 idle jet, 102 main jet, and 70 choke jet... when i start it up with the choke turned on it seems to be ok but sounds like its flooding it but when i turn the choke off after about 1-2 mins when its warmed up it dies out after about 20 seconds anybody have one of these carbs and knows why? thanks

    Btw i have a Typhoon 125

Why are you fitting a 28mm carb to a 125 is what I want to know?

A 28mm is far too large for a 125. Not really going to work at all. It will work with a 172 but a 25mm is more suited.

Would it still work good with a 172? also 2 needles came with is a x2 and x14 whats the difference?

It will work ok but it's still a bit too large for a 172 in my opinion.

The needles will be different thickness's, different tapers, etc. Not sure what is what or what one you should use as I just use whatever normally comes in the carb and just mess about with the needle height.

Better to run it a little lean that dry though isnt it? "/ also if i down jet the 28mm carb significantly like a 65 jet or something would it work? thanks

A larger carb means more air... More air means you need more fuel otherwise it will lean out. The problem is that if your bike isn't tuned enough then you cannot burn off the excess fuel hence it being impossible to setup.

So no you can't just throw a huge carb at a bike and put a small jet in it!

No it wont work perfect. A 25mm carb works best on a 172. 28mm carbs do work on 172's but normally you need most the bolt on bits and even port work to really see the benefit.

Will it be ok if i put a ported 172 onto a standard typhoon 125 though?
