hi i have just bought a stage 6 dellorto 19mm carb and my standard carb was a gurtner carb, where do all the hoses connect too, is there some sort of a manual for these carbs? (petrol, 2t etc.) and is it important that coolant from the waterpump and cylinder is flowing through the carb back to the cylinder? thanks
why do people do this? yoiu cant figure the difference between a vac line/oil feed/fuuel/coolant hose.. what makes you think you can actually get the carb working on the bike? what, play wiht the 2 screws for a few hours till it blows up? i REALLY dont get why people spend money on things they REALLY dont understand
well you could start by follwing the pipes to were they go? as in fuel tank, vaccum, fuel pump? etc etc then you can work out how it all goes together pretty simple if you just stop take a step back and look at it? i suppose growing up around crossers n engine helps witht all this crap but it really is one of the simplest engine to work on? great for learning the basics anyway just go careful or it could be an expensive learning curve good luck
thanks for the reply ive put the correct hoses on the correct places on the carb and thats all sorted, i started it and it revs really high without throttle no matter how much i change the two screws on the side (idle fuel mix and idle speed) ive already followed the carb guide by minor but no change to the high revving. could there be anything wrong with the carb? if anyone could help that would be great, thanks
At a guess its got an air leak... or the throttle isnt on the stop ie your cable is too short and its holding the throttle slightly open.
yep.. deffo the cable. there always too short when you fit anything to a bike wiht a 17.5m carb or smaller.. if your skilfull you can cut a little of the throttle cable sleve off (just the outer) so you have enough slack on the inner... or just order a universal cable
