Hi,my name is Alex and I just put a new PMtuning EX-tech 70cc on my Aprilia Rally. Tonight riding back from work I just heard a soft pop and the engine died on me.No chance to get it start again.Does anybody knows what happened? Thanks Alex.
hello and welcome, your scoot problem, i would be tempted to firstly remove the plug and have a look at it and see whats going on there then check the cylinder compresion. other than that its just a process of elimination and checking through everything. hope you get it sorted mate.
This is one of the reasons i do not want to 70kit my bike anymore becasue throwing money at it is not an option. ^^ do what yellasei said and check coolant etc and piston and check the gaskets are sealed decent. Also you did buy pmtuning should have gone for polini / malossi.
Ciao again,and thanks for yours tips,not joy.This morning I checked the sparkplough,look like is very dry,as if I was running lean.Strange because I left the mizture a bit richer for the cold weather.Could it be a size piston? Thanks Alex.
it could have melted the piston or worse case, out a hole in it. that was the reason i sugested a compresion test. you could try cranking it over with your finger over the plug hole (obviously keep clear of the HT and plug cap) and see if there is a good amount of compresion. tbh, i would whip the head and barrel off again and check everything, it would only cost the price of a gasket set.
