Hi my mates Honda SGX 50 keeps cutting out it. It was running fine but all of a sudden he was riding and it cut out and wouldn't start. After leaving it a while it then started and since it has cut out twice but this time started again immediately. I was thinking this could be an ignition problem ie coil the plug has been recently changed so cant see it being that. Does this sound familiar to anyone and how do you test a coil? any help would be appreciated thanks

I had this the other week, depends how long he was riding, could just be overheating? Or the piston could be going, I thought mine was the carb not getting enough fuel because I was full throttle for about half hour then stopped :/

    Is this your mate?

Yes that is my mate how did you find that lol. funny you say about piston, its just been changed but was cutting out before and after the piston was changed. Ok well i might have a fiddle with the carb and see if that cures it.
i dont think it will be overheating he only rides it for 20 minutes and its been coldish and drizzzly when it cut out

when does the bike cut out? while riding? while warm up? after a short ride and then a stop at lights etc? as much info as possible would be helpful, thing is it could be a multitude of things, but general fault finding here will help to narrow the problem down.
