how many people on here run a cut down reg plate and have been stopped cos of it? My neighbours have small regplates on there runners and have never been stopped. Wanted a smaller plate for mine as its going to be side mounted and its rather large.

[IMG]Mine's a 5x7 and never had any problems, had cops behind me and they didn't do anything haha.
Even got a speeding ticket with it on and they didn't give me points or anything for it:

I was gonna get one like that but thought it'd attract too much attention haha.
Having one THAT small probably would get you pulled over :L
5x7 is about the smallest without being unreadable really

Used a marker pen to mark out the holes, tapped lightly on the drill bit with a hammer to make an indent then just slowly drilled, goes through like butter haha

I did it once a while ago on a chinese ped, basically the edge of the plate was at the edge of the letters haha, i only got told by the police to round the edges of the plate, and not to ride it until i had rounded the edges haha

mines 5x7 with 2" letters. Never had any grief....but then again they've never been fast enough :D

If you take the piss with the size as said above, they'll tug you every chance they get. Being as my plate is 5x7 they'd probably not stop you just for that, but if they did stop you they'd throw everything at you that was wrong....race can, black visor, errr...maybe slightly over the speed limit officer o_O

That'd probably end up discolouring the plastic and the holes could look more like bullet holes through metal because it'd be melting the plastic to get through haha.
Drilling is easier than you'd think :)
I've drilled 3 plates without any misshaps, just put them on a piece of wood and hold them down with your foot :p

i may aswell order one instead of cutting mine, just for the MOT, and keep the original in the boot so if i get pulled by a wanker of a cop then ill switch it over and piss on his bonfire lol

i run 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch on all my scooters and the letters are smaller than standard and i have never been stopped , i dont drill any plates as it let the moisture get inside and ruins them , i just make a alloy plate with protruding studs fitted then fasten the plate to that
