Anyone hear of this type of variator, "CT" being the brand name? I bought it from someone on another forum, it's supposed to be designed for drag racing. I just installed it, only letters on the backplate are in Chinese or Japanese. I used the rollers he gave me with it, they are too heavy so I plan to put lighter ones in it. I can't find anything on "CT" on the web or favorite scooter websites and was wondering if anyone here is familiar. Picked it up for a good price, he said he had it on his wife's scooter and it was too quick for her. He got it from Japan or China as part of a group buy a couple years ago.
never heard of it, and a supposedly sports vario replacement was too fast for his wife, lol wat a load of crap, a aftermarket vario adds like 5 mph at the best of times when set up correctly
He got 2, one for his and one for hers. She didn't like it. And actually, I am suppossed to lose some top end as it's designed for quickness. That's fine with me I guess, plan to put a new kit on it soon. The only other mention of it I found in a Super 9 yahoo group when comparing with variators. The guy quoted below also bought one in this group buy;
its designed for speed therefore you loose top end? i dont get it :wtf: is it designed for quick acceleration then?
it's designed for drag racing, sacrificing some top end. I just changed out the rollers, back down to 6.5g. It rips off the line all the way to 40MPH (indicated).... after 40 it's a little slower then my OEM with the same weights. I like it, a lot.
Just an update, I actually got another 5MPH top end with it, it's smoother (no flat spots) and pulls hard from a stop. Either the OEM was meh, or I am not used to a performance variator, and/or the CT Racing variator is simply an awesome upgrade. I found that they are available from scooter-assins.... it is towards the bottom of this page. http://www.scooter-assassins.com/KymcoCobraPage.html No one heard of this company?
