been reading about cryogenics or freezing engine parts to make em last longer in a old issue of scootering thing is i have got a mate with access to liquid nitrogen plant that can do this? any thoughts on this
dont rapid cool.. just bung em in the freezer for a month or two (do this with cranks befor i fit them) hardens the steel to an extent.. if you rapid cool any material it has a tendancy to shatter even if on a microscopic level. this means weak spots where as slow cooling will harden somthing niceley. back int he 80's bmw used 30 year old 1.5 engines left in the rain for years and even pissed on for there f1 engines.. old casting remachined will always last longer as if it was gonna break it would have by now.. my tattoo machines are made from 40 year old train track. now thats fooking dence for its material type.
i have been piercing professionally for 8 or so years and dabbeling in tattoo's for neerly as long.. cover cost of needles an disposable tubes an ill do whatever you like.. im an engineer for a reason tho only reason i stopped was coz i worked with a fookin amazing artist and i could never ddream of doing the work he is capable of so no point imo.. but ill sort m8's out if they dont mind neer perfect
ANYWAY.... back on topic bang any tuning bits in the freezer in bags coverd nicely in wd40 and sealed up WELL untill you fit them.. i have a "ped bits" draw in the freezer
lmao u no u luv ur pedss wen u start putting parts in the freezer. My mum aint going to be happy when she finds my 70 engine fast asleep next to 2moros chicken nuggets. LOl but seriously is this just for cranks or what else? So basically if i buy a crank and aint getting fitted for a while i should just bang it in the frrezer to strengten it?
lol next to tommorows chicken nuggets :w00t: i also read that this can help with fitting things if you freeze the one part and leave the other part somewhere hot, they can fit togethter more easily
ye because metal expands the hotter it is, so i may be trying to be to big for my boot but below a certain temperature its in its smallest form, when it heats up its bigger, so if u need to get a metal pole into a certain size hole u would want to freeze the pole and heat up the wall or we it is ur putting it in so it goes in eaisly and then as it goes back to its normal temperature it stays in there firm. thats why when i get bolts and stuff stuck on socket peices i heat up the socket peice.
ye i always freeeze down cranks to fit them.. means you cant really hit them too hard when you fit them but if you get it right you should only need a couple nocks to set the end float an centre the thing. i can fit a crank by hand and have it spinning without a hammer
as long as you have..,. aslong as its air tight and got a little oil in there it wont rust. ive had one in the freezer for over 6 months befor now. slid into place like a cock in a wet minge
