OK, bearing in mind I know jack shit about anything to do with peds.

Is it illegal to own a 172, 180, 183 etc at 17? If so do police check a lot (depends where you live, I know but any input will be appreciated) and if your caught whats the punishment?

Realistically how fast are standard 125 Runners?

    Please don't laugh. :confused:arc:

    Thanks in advance.

read the back of your provisional to find out what power u can drive at what age.....

it is legal if they are registered as that cc and your insurance company know

police rarely check and if they do and they find out your bike will be square and able to fit in your pocket withing days ;)

a standard runner im assuming would hit around 70 mabye

EDIT: the provisional counterpart.. not the card :rtfm:

    under 125cc and under 14.6bhp

you can have one legally at 17 if you pass your full bike test

at 16 with cbt you can ride any bike upto 49cc and 3.14? bhp (between 3 and 4 anyway) restricted to 33mph but cannot take pillions and need L plates, if you pass your full 50cc moped test you can take pillions and have no L's

at 17 provided you have cbt you can ride any vehicle geared or manual with a cc of no more than 125cc and 14bhp

pass your 125 test and you can ride anything 125cc and under 14bhp without L plates and take pillions (applies for auto and manual)

you can pass your test on a 125 bike and have a 33bhp restricted license, you can ride anything upto 33bhp (yes you can ride a hyabusa, r1, even a busa engined trike...) restricted to 33bhp (applies for auto and manual)

at 21 you can do direct access, pass your test on a 500cc bike and you can then go out, buy an R1 and go kill yourself with full power that same day

im sure this is right but if anyone wants to correct any of it feel free to do so...

    sam :p

Let me get this straight, from what your saying when i turn 17 I'm restricted to a 125, 14bhp provided I've done my CBT - which I have, but If i want to take pillions and ride without L plates I have to do a 125 test?

your not allowed a 250 on a cbt.

maybe you was years ago, but not now. :wtf: (as far as im aware)

because i would of been on a 250 at 17 instead of a 125 lol
