When I took off my variator case today I realised that there was some crystallisation and a slight residue, I think it's from coolant getting in. Is this a problem? What could have caused it?

Cant be coolant i think it could be the aluminium which must be corroding because when aluminium corrodes it crystalises and turns into a chalky white residue.

Shouldn't really be a problem should it?
