i have a 70 aerox which is not very reliable ...i am wanting a 172 engine to put in my aerox ...i have an engineer that will make me mounts for my engine ...

what needs to be done and is there somthing i can buy so i dont have to send it into a engineer ...(will be faster and easier ) and what will i need to buy for breaks.. lights and all the other stuff

and if any of you have an engine /cdi/coil/ etc

You'll need everything you'd need for any 125 engine conversion plus lots of welding of course. From what I've seen its a pain in the arse to get the geometry right with the mounts and shock etc and not really worth it unless you're prepared for a challenge

you will nee to rewire all the switches, lights . you will also need a runner caliper , and you will have to sort out the shock as aerox one aint going to fit on runner engine unless you mess up with cases and you cant use the runner one as the mount on the frame is different.

this is really hard job , i think i only seen one aerox done like this , and it didint look good at all :/ if you want a 172 i would suggest to get a 125 tph/sr/runner or atleast some piaggio 50 , it will be a bit easier to convert it :)

+1 Edgar... not worth the hassle.

    Get a runner and make it a 172 :)

Or i have a stupid idea lol :p Make the aerox stock again and buy a fucked up second scooter for really cheap and play on that as you wont care if it will work or not :) to be honest if you are a true scooter lover you can make that happen... i have heard you can buy the base for the 172 engine and mod the base on your frame then you will need the loom, radiator and some other bits...

I don't see the point in this.

The point of most engine swaps is to put a powerful engine in a lighter frame body to create a quicker bike.

AFAIK a standard Aerox isn't much lighter than a standard Runner...maybe 8-10kgs at best...so at the end of the day you're going to end up with a bodged bike that isn't any faster than a proper Runner.

Add to that the cost of buying all the bits to do it right...no offence but at 16 i'd be surprised if you have the means to buy everything separately and do it right. I know myself at 30 with a full time job it'd be too expensive for me to do, let alone taking it to an engineer.

Even if you do manage, going by the ConAir vid on youtube its not like its a subtle swap...i mean it'll be pretty obvious to coppers etc that its something more than just a 70cc'd Aerox!

Fair enough if you have a complete crashed/dead runner and/or a better bike to transplant it into IMO.

    Otherwise just buy a runner

I reckon it could work, along as you strip the frame and engine right down, clean them, do a nice job etc. trust me, it's a lot easier to see what your working with when it's like that.

If your aerox crank has fucked up you'd be better off selling all the parts and putting the money towards another Ped

u33db most of the people that do 172 conversions isnt about the weight... its about the license.. not many 17 year olds have the license to drive a 172 ;) and tbh a 172 conversion wont cost that much as buying parts to make your scooter 70cc..
