Conti Racing Reeds, would like to ask a few questions?

hey, sorry to bother, but a while back on ebay i found a new conti racing reed block with carbon petals, and it went for about a fiver so i won them and got them in the post, they were for the aprillia sr50 which has the minerelli engine like my neos so i thought they would fit, after taking my reed cage out, noticed that the conti one had a muchh smaller hole in the base compared to my stock, and the carbon petals were stiffer than my stock metal ones.. and after installing them and trying numerous different jets, i hjad worse performance out of them.

ive herd different thickness of petals changing where the power is in a 2 stroke engine, but what effect would it cause, and why the reallly narrow hole in the base? anyone got any idea?

thinking about re-drilling the carbon petals and trying them on my std block..
