confusion with aerox. not running well

my mates aerox has been fucking up proper. it doesnt start that well and it bogs and backfires to fuck. he broke down earlier and we had to ride it home as we were like 10 miles away. on the way home it was backfiring to fuck and there was flames coming out of the exhaust and also sparks. anyone know whats wrong with it? hes recently had a bar conversion and digital clock fitted but thts all. thats been changed recently.

his setup is mhr rep 70
21 percent gear up
17.5 ml dellorto with original main jet (that comes with the delorto carb)
and a zx crhome pipe.

the compression surprinsingly seemed fine on the bike.

i would think one of the rings has broken up or the flywheel has slipped on the crank. thats all i can think. the other possibility would be reeds breaking up.

Get some main jets, pull the plastics off for easier access and learn how to correctly jet the motor. Use the search to find topics with various opinions and ideas on jetting.

Do this with patience and you'll get a crisp motor with that setup.

Also, assuming you have a standard airbox consider opening the intake on it as you'll be choking it.

so DON'T give him any advice, take our advice....

as wobbly and tweak said, its a mix of incorrect jetting and reeds.

reeds breaking up would cause sparks, and if its overfueled then that would cause the flames....

airbox needs modifying more than anything, then jet.....

failing this, could be the rings.....

lol i have to agree the new shape sr s look shit hot way cooler than a rox and have a good engine in them too (piggy engined versions)

i just wouldnt touch one because the price of farings and spare parts for them knowing me i will come off once or twice and fuck getting raped by an italian aprilia salesman for a new panels...

one reason why ive only owned roxes i guess is because the parts are pretty good priced for what they are and come quick

 

aerox is more of a sporty look. but then and again this is a debate of personal opinions. its how a bike makes you feel and not necessarliy how fast it is or how good looking it is.

well put it this way i dont feel a sense of disapointment in my aerox as i walk up to it, its lush to drive (appart from restricted) but people who own that bike aint guna says its shit un less it really is haha unk:

My bike is not unreliable, 90% of it's problems were probably caused by myself anyway All i can say really is that I'll report back in a couple of weeks when my parts are on the bike and the electrics are sorted...the result of been left outside standing for 2 years , a problem your Aerox hasn't had i suspect :bird:

 

last time im helping you aprilia look great up until about 2004.
