Just wondering if anyone else is suffering in this weather? I wear a pair of nitro winter leather bike gloves with a pair of oxford chillout gloves underneath as well and after a 10 minute ride to work this morning my hands were still so cold they felt like they were burning!

So, Thinking of getting some heated grips, wondered if anyone has any experience/advice on them? Was looking at oxford hotgrips.

ye, been there done that with long winter rides, just wanna cry half way there, heated grips are good but drain ya battery a little on a 50. best used with a volume type control so you can dim the heat an so on.

latex gloves under what you usually wear help alot

well the adverts say the drain is 2A but I know bugger all about electricity. Reckon they might be ok on a vx125, I hear they can cope with a bit more drain on the power, but I don't know!

My other concern is invalidating the warranty on my scoot, so would have to check with the dealer before I did anything anyhow.

Oh and might try the latex gloves idea, I work in a lab so they're kinda easy to come by!

on a vx they'll be fine. and ask your dealer you may find they will install them if you buy it from them.

btw ive got it worse at the moment, im on a push bike riding about 7-8 miles at 7:00 in the morning, today was soo cold it hurt :rtfm:

    Snowmobile gloves? Undergloves..?

Found heated grips with these specs:

    Voltage:
12.0 volts - pair, 6 volts per grip
    Amps/Watts: approx 3.0 amps

12 * 3 = 36 watts. Not bad, but usually all 50cc bike gives out is about 80 watts. Long story short, the frontlight is usually 35 watts, the backlight is 21/5 and indicators 10 watts. When breaking and turning/using indicators there is no way of using the grips, as the light system alone is using 76 watts - but when you are driving longer distances, you aren't really using breaks or indicators, right.

Maybe turning them on only when driving long distances works. Still it's a close call, whether the bike can provide enough electricity or not. I'd propably swap the backlight to a led one to make sure I'm not overloading anything.

    Edit: I'm too slow :)

if you really wana look silly you can get them covers over your handle bars :w00t: :msn1:

thing is with heated grips is that it just warms up the palms of your hands, but its the outside of your hands that get cold from the wind.

my mate just got heated gloves ;) recons they works well good.

obviously I'm not the only one suffering! Yeah 6:15 this morning way to work and my hands just hurt from the cold! And that's when I resolved to look into heated grips :D

may have to looka t heated gloves if they give better heat than grips, can see what you mean about heating only palm of hand, but never tried them.

    and when I said vx125 I meant runner, I forgot I wasn't on GR.net anymore :D

i tried some heated grips on a demo stall at the nec birmingham, they do get very hot, cant hold bare hands on for more than 10 secs lol :msn1:

they also had heated gloves but didnt try them on, would be a better idea in theory...

when i went on my 180 mile mish when i first had the aerox, just had some normal supposedly waterproof gloves, in the rain i stopped at every service station, put some plastic gloves on and soaked the gloves in hot water, kept your hands warm longer than drying them and a quick fix lol

    sam

heated gloves are more expensive then that unless ya mean the maplins ones which wont lasyt very long.

gore tex gloves are wicked in winter. can get a set from hein gericke for £64.99. its a good bit of kit ;)

i'm not convinced gore-tex would do any more than the two pairs of gloves I already wear, both designed for winter wear, the oxford ones are similar idea to gore-tex, i.e. wind proof, waterproof, breathable and insulating.

    I've just got in.
    Wearing merely MX gloves.

    It's cold, it burns.
    Get over it?

A decent pair of winter gloves will suffice.
I know bering do some brilliant gloves.
