Never use washing up liquid on paint work. It'll just take off the shine over time. See those cars with matted panels? Washing up liquid is why they're like that, it's just too strong Just hose it down, get some car washing detergent like TurtleWax in water and sponge it allover getting the muck off, then hose it down again to get the soap off. If you want you can get a window leather and get the excess water off so there's no water marks after it's dried. I've only washed my bike once , I never let it get dirty enough to need washing, I polish it aaaall the time hahaha
My first ever job was washing caravans(i know lol), they was worth 20,000 to 40,000 and he used washing up liquid, if its ok for a 40,000 caravan it ok for a 500 to 1,000 bike i use washing up liquid and a big sponge. then a good max i would only use jet was with a stock air box fitted.
It's a strong alkali. oxidizing the paint over time, not providing any lubrication (like wax or whatever) and also removes any previous layers of wax that were on the paint, making the paint look shit over time unless you want to wax it every time you wash it, which usually isn't needed with car shampoo because most have wax in them already. For the sake of a few quid for a bottle of car shampoo, which lasts for years, it's not really worth it.
defo never jet wash (unless its for clearing muck off your wheels) "car shampoo" works on more than just cars ... just dont soak your electrics and you'll be fine
Thanks people, think I will be getting some car shampoo then. Never really wanted to use washing up liquid as I seen the damage it can do
i would never ever use washing up liquid on any painted part of my car or bike its a definate no , on the engine i use elbow grease
