cleaning my chain

    i really want to look after my rs 125 what is the best way to clean your chain i have searched it on google and there is loadz of shit and different ways and people saying dont use wd-40 when cleaning i just want to no what to clean it with and what greaser is the best thanks alot

    Just use chain lube/spray which you can even buy in Halfords. I do my chain every couple of weeks and after a clean. Keep an eye on the slack of it too as you will need to tighten it every so often.

    There should be a line on the swingarm of when you should renew your chain and sprockets. Do it, don't leave it a while :emb:

    use chain cleaner before your lube it. its about £3 from hein gericke.

    Maybe if you went to college you would know ;)

    Im sure halfords do chain cleaner

    Well me and all my friends clean out chains using Parafin and then use castrol chain lube its about £5-6 from halfords :) make sure you keep on top of the chains tension also!

    WD40 or parafin are OK if itd not O-ring chain. If it is, you don't want anything thats a degreaser or that'll remove the lube from inside the O-rings (including WD40)

    If non O'ring, clean it with parafin (even better if its a split ring chain coz you can take it off and clean in an old roasting tin) Then use Castrol boil in a tin lube....It melts the grease between all the plates and rollers in the chain. Yhe old and trusted ways are always the best IMHO. Been riding chain driven bikes for 40 years and never had any issues
