Hi guys, had a thought today and wanted some advice.

Basically my chinese scooter (bt49qt-9) is derestricted, it acellerates fairly quickly from a stand still up till about 40mph +/- 2or 3 mph.

Im willing to sacrifice a little of this acelleration for a higher top speed as a lot of my commute to work is up and down hills which bleed speed off from 40 down to 30 sometimes lower in a 60 zone.

Is it possible to achieve upwards of 45mph, ideally 50 by changing the rollers alone? Or would i have to sacrifice a lot of acelleration to get these top speeds? I could potentially get a sports/racing clutch and variator but wouldnt be straight away. And i havent got the funds for a 125 yet.

It just seemed a bit mad that the bikes built with a 50mph speedo if it wont dont those speeds. I mean if it was meant to max out at 40/45 surely the speedo would show that as max speed.

If anyones has some tips on getting a bit quicker would be great. Ideally id like to keep it as a 50cc too. Its just a little hair rasing having tranny vans and hgv's trying to over take on a single carrige way 60mph raod with crossing islands in the middle of the road every so often.

    Cheers

Just because the speedo say's 50mph, doesn't mean it will do 50mph. All scooters/bikes have/cars have a speedo that the said vehicle will never achieve. And the bt49qt-9 will never be able to do upward's of 45mph, it must be derestricted already as they are speed limited to 28mph std.

the speedos are always out. put that chinese 4 stroke 50 against my italjet and i can guarentee my 40mph will be your 45mph and when i go to 45mph youll be left in the dust. generally unless you do a shit ton of work like a 80cc kit etc they wont go above 40mph even derestricted.

its not go faster stripes you need, its monster stickers. about 30 of them. we all know they add 30bhp each. fuck 70 kits and variators and sports pipes. its all to do with the monster stickers

    What Marsh says^
    Scooter speedos are notoriously inaccurate.
I followed one of my customers on his Zip because he says he was doing nearly 80mph. Not KPH, but MPH.
So with me on my zzr1100 behind him, we belted down the road so he got to top speed. He never exceeded 52mph at any time.
Similarly, another kid on a runner, speedo readings out by a long margin, top speed 55mph. He says it was reading nearly 70mph.
And my speedo is accurate. According my my police sergeant friend.

Haven't done anything to it to make it any quicker.

The plan is to either save a few pennies and buy a 125 engine and drop it in, or save alot of pennies and buy a new 125 jianshe geared bike (on learner legal website)

Most i've had out of it was 50mph + (needle ran off the scale) down a very steep hill coming home from work. going to work, i struggle to get higher than 20/25 up the hill.

I've had it running regularly at 40mph, very tempted for the new 125 haha

sounds like you done all you can..80 kit and a cam, slightly biger carb and you got enough grunt for a gear up..then you might see a proper 50 mph
