How long do normal belts last before they need changing? My bikes at about 5,500km and I decided to have a look and replace the belt if needed with a malosi kevlar belt I bought a while back but after taking all but one of the bolts out of the cover I realised the last one was blocked by the airbox and cannot be removed without disconnecting the airbox and removing it first. Is that normal??? That's got to be a major design flaw!
Not really as the air filter will be renewed/cleaned a lot more on regular servicing than a belt change. Generally they are only held on by a couple of bolts so can easily be loosened and either removed or possibly moved out of the way. Don't forget a lot of engines are used across a range of models so minor bodywork may get in the way depending on which model it is.
