u dont need to know fuck all, if you have a copy of the highway code read it for your benefit (not for the cbt benefit as they dont care) and don't act like a prick, it's easy if u get a good instructer whose understanding and helps you out, but my cbt guy was abit of a nob and just kept shouting at me and all sorts lol.

yeah mate, you just ride normally? i was full throttle most of it (he was on a cruiser big bike screaming at me for not going past 28mph)

try and keep your cool, when he's directing you and he's behind u, it's a little bit stressful but if ur fine thats ok, the lad i was doing it with paniced and didnt count the roundabouts properly :blackeye: (still passed)

Nothing to worry about. It's very straight forward, in my situation we practiced on a go-kart track to begin with (it was me on a 50cc, two women on 125's who just couldnt grasp gears) so i got to have alot of fun riding around that whilst they managed to get going smoothly of a stand still.

Fairly straightforward on the road if you've ever used a bicycle...properly...

I don't think the CBT is really enough road experience for someone to de-restrict a ped and go 45-55mph straight away....but thats just my opinion.

I done nothing to my Ped for the first 3 months....got used to roads and the difference conditions make (something they cant really teach you in one day, and trust me you'll notice it alot more on two wheels than four...i.e a car).

Passing shouldn't be a problem...the only TEST part of it is actually they eye test...the rest is getting you up to 'road safety standard'.....when my mate took her CBT, a boy crashed his PED, can't remember how but he came off it with a few scratches etc..and still passed.

What you'v got to remember at the end of the day its compulsory basic TRAINING, so you can't exactly fail. The majority of the boys in my year when I was at school got peds (me included) and none of them were refused a CBT certificate and hearing the stories of what they allegedly done whilst out on the 'test' is truely shocking that they still managed to 'pass'. So I wouldn't be too worried buddy, take it in your stroll and enjoy it.

yeah you push the bike around a carpark to make sure you can handle it they teach you how to put it on the stand correctly etc think of it as module 1 and module 2 of your A1 first hour or so your in a carpark doing manuovers etc then you go out for a road test

Its pretty simple, just listen to whats being said, no trying to be a smart ass proving you know everything lol.

You cant fail, well, if your a danger then they wont grant you the certificate :)

i dont mine on a 125cc and i was hurtin all over after riding for hours!! so get plenty of rest the night before :D i need to book myself in again in the next few weeks i ran out in december lol

Easy peasey mate.. You will wee wee all over it.

Done mine on a geared 125, had never ridden a geared bike before, infact i only rode 1 ped before so very un-experienced.. Found it easy just listend to the instructor, within 10 mins I had figured the gears and clutch.. Rode round some cones in a school playground for an hour, then road test.. Again just LISTEN to what your instructor tells you, and DO what he says.

I found the road test easy, 3 of us plodding around at 15-25mph, 2nd gear most of the time was a piece of piss.

Im sure you will be fine, I got to take my cbt again soon, will be a laugh might do it on the zip 70 just to take the piss lol.

    Good luck

theyre not strict whatsoever lol...ive done it twice once on a scooter (only had ago at me for road positioning) and recently just before i did my full test on a geared 125 and i basically ragged it round a carpark for an hour doing a couple figures of 8...then went on road for an hour or so? Theyre getting easier and easier.....you have to be deff dum and blind to fail so stop worrying lol.

Would be interesting to get some facts on the C.B.T

I have a full car licience so do I need to apply?

The old rules were you could ride a 50cc as long as you liked on a car licience and take a pillion too.
    Has this changed?
BTW Good luck for today m8

Yes Its changed. I think if you passed your CAR test BEFORE FEB 2001 then you CAN ride a 50cc with no L plates and no CBT.

If you passed your car test after Feb2001, you WILL need a CBT to ride a 50cc bike WITH L plates... NO pillions, need a full licnece for that.

I got up on my 16th bday and my dad said "your doing your cbt today". we got down there at about 9.00am and the man said we should be finished between 3-5pm depending on how good we were (there was one other boy with me), we basically rode around the carpark for a bit, the man talked about saftey and all that then went out on the road. at the end we finished at about 1.30.

you cant actually FAIL the cbt, unless you have a major accident. if you are bad at riding a ped then you will just be made to do the things over and over until you can do it. but if you have a brain and can ride a bike without stabilisers you will easily do it. nothing to be worried about.
