This is PROBABLY the result of the use of the impact wrench on variator change ....

    What happened?
    - While driving heard a metallic noise from the variator and the drive disappeared.

What I could see when I looked at the variator?
    - Variator "lid" had gone in two parts
    - One of the edges that was cracked had rust on.
    - Variator where the weights are located was in several pieces
    - The belt was whole but had a damage

    MY conclusion
    - I have changed weights several times and used the impact wrench.
    - The crack in the variator cover has probably arisen from the use of impact wrench
    - Rust indicate that varitor lid was cracked a while before it broke into two parts

    TIP
    - Use the "variator locking tool" and ratchet at least when securing the variator!

I do not know what "variator locking tool" is called in English
But I use it in the clip above

OK to use for removal but best use a torque wrench to tighten. Heres what happened to a ped thet we had; where impact gun got used too often

Never use a torque/rattle gun to tighten variator/flywheel nuts, if you aint got the right kit, you can't do the right job!
