yeh right long story short a car pulled out and made me slam on my brakes, i was filtering so wasnt sure to make a claim it caused 5 scratchs if that on my panels lol but cause it was 5 panels and a exhaaust heat shield its made it come to over £650 to its a cat c write of, what would i have to do to get it back on the road? will i need to do another mot? since it will pass again now everything works and panels are basicly how it was when it passed its mot last time, also i already have 10 months mot could i add that mot onto the new mot? and would i have to re apply for the log book? even tho i already have it? if not am i allowed to sell it as a write of with mot tax and the log book i have? i would obv tell them the story with it and only want about £250 or sumat? that allowed?
your mot is void now you gotta take a mot test again and then dvla will make it road legal straight after.
i would never fix a scoot thats been crashed again. had a bad experience not long ago and cost me loads of £££s
yeh like i said its my bike, wasnt even in a crash, i stoped on my bike due to a car pulling out lost ballence bike fell on its side, nothing wrong with it apart from scratched panels which i wont be replacing because they are fine lol
If its just batterd pans then your alright, fixable and will go though an mot. But theres a chance the steering bearings could have movement they normally need replacing after a bad stack. If the forks arnt bent your alright and engine mounts not damaged. The worst than could happen if your frame was bent!
its a cat C write off now...so will need vic check for logbook...needs new m.o.t (obviously as its just been in a crash so they need to check if its road worthy)...and i think tax stays as it is. so you could sell it with the logbook but im guessing that the new owner wont get logbook back and just a letter telling him take it for a vic check.
logbook wont come back... need the write off certificate, fix the quoted damage. then a cat c needs to eb INSPECTED by the dvla not just mot'd... they prove that the vehicle isnt just a nicked bike with the old vin number and lok for proof of repaird damage... if its pannel damage fix it yourself.. spray it and take it down to the dvla wiht your 32 quid... once you do this and it passes you can apply for the loggy and then mot/tax/insure or sell the vehicle... cat d requires an mot alone, cat c requires inspection, cat b is salvage (need a salvage licence to buy) but also can be inspected and returned to the road if you can repair retaning 60% of the original vehicle or replace more and have a q plate. a cat a will NEVER see the road again miss informed people get people arrested... anyone trying to sell that bike/frame will have at least a strong letter from the dvla... maybe a police visit. its not a vehicle anymore.. its a pile of parts. you have to prove to the dvla its the same bike befor its back on the system as a bike. right nowe your numberplate and vin plate are NOT registerd to a vehicle, there registerd to a report/write off certificate. its NOT a vehicle anymore
Is there a text number or website to find out if it has been written off and what class of write off? Also, I'll need the write off certificate? My friend who I bought it from has no paperwork from it so will I need to apply for that? Hopefully the VX is a cat d, can't remember now :mod:
ye text the numberplate to 83600. costs 3 quid... not always 100% accurate tho so if in doubt do a full 15 quid hpi check...
