carbs on a 4 stroke

since my carb has a crack in it, i was wondering, would a bigger 2 stroke carb work or make any difference to a 4 stroke engine? And would i need to buy a new inlet manifold to fit it?

 

gone from a 17mm as a 50 to a 19mm on my 80 didn't want to go too big as it will drink fuel more than it needs too

 

is that on a 4 stroke engine? and is there any difference in power/speed?

 

yes its a 4t and there will be for me mate I've also changed a lot of other things aswell as the carb in one go, I'm yet to fire her up though due to being busy

tbh if you get a bigger carb it will rev better if its bigger than std as it can draw air better, but don't go bigger than you need or you will just waste fuel

 

thanks for the info mate, i hope yours runs well i seen a koso 30mm carb for cheap but is that way too big? its a 100cc engine but i dont know the original carb size

30mm is a bit overkill, a nice 20 or 21 will do on a 100

there all 24mm and up, with a manual choke, and does 24mm or whatever mean the size of the inlet?

 

24 should be ok, and yes its inlet size, the middle bit

got rid of it mate, nothing but problem after problem, but i did love it! i now have a honda lead, nothing special but was only £40 haha
