hi i was wondering if anyone could help me. i have an 04 plate gilera runner vx 125. i tried up jetting it with a 160 main jet and it would rev so i fitted the standard one back in. now all it does is lose power on the top end and power starts going and coming back and going again. i have asked several people and they all said it was fuel starvation. could anyone help me please.

you upjetted it with a 160 main jet :confused:hock: are you mad ??? :glare:

if its suffering fuel starvation, (and thats only your diagnoses) i would take the carb off and give it a good clean through and check the float isnt damaged and the float needle isnt sticking etc etc also check all your pipes are on properly and theres no air leaks anywhere.

could be electrical though...you tried a new spark plug??

also this is supposed to be in workshop...not general scooter discussion o_O

by making sure it moves freely in and out of its housing ok, and its actually attached to
the float tab...make sure the float isnt punctured, shake it, and if you can hear fuel inside it...its scrap :(

get a small nail or philips screwdriver (slightly smaller than the pin.make sure its a lil smaller than the pin)

then tap the nail with a small hammer ot anything

    just be careful

allways works fine that way for me :)

Valve clearance is the gap between the valves and head. If the clearance is wrong it will run shit. Ive had this on a piaggio leader engine, the bike ran well upto 55mph then it'd stutter down to a hault and cut out, then not start untill the engine cools. Turned out the inlet valve was sealing against the head then getting stuck when the engine was getting hot.

Fuel pump and tap can be replaced, you know what google is, use it. Shouldnt take a min to find a good shop selling replacement parts.
