    ok....guess what!!

i got it running better....i did some googling at work....
Basically i screwed in the idle screw a fair bit.... then leaned out the mixture screw...

i was only game enough to screw it in, so it is now about 1/3 - 1/2 a turn out.

runs alot better.... still not perfect... and a bit rough down low, but at least its drivable....and will get me around until i source a pipe.....

what code are you talking about minor? the one thats in there? or what?
do you think ill need a thicker needle when i get a pipe?

couple of comments.... holy crap its loud with the pod filter, and holy crap it sucks some fuel now. ive used about 1/2 a tank (3.5 litres) and ive covered about 70kms.....that means a tank will only last me say 150kms....and it used to last 200-230 odd.

LOL, wait for the rpm to go up.... always handy having 2 carbs setup with a cable in place.. use the road carb foir weekdays an 10 min switch for sundayt drives...
pipe will have to go on befor you know if the needle needs ajustment. but glad its runin nice ish now ;) keep us all posted an try get a vid :D can always flick the limiter switch on the cdei to keep fuel down but who wants to drive that slow again?

hehe... yeah...i can imagine the noise going up even more with the pipe....
not so good when i leave for work at 6:20am....and i live in an estate full of town houses....lol

I think the reason it was running craps is the idle jet is too big.... that and maybe a combination of the needle too.

ill try and get a vid on the weekend.....where can i host it....?

oh...btw... my cdi is unlimited...doesnt have a switch....

what octane petrol does everyone use....

ive been using 95 (premium)..... but want to use 91 (regular)....
especially cause its using almost twice as much fuel now.

    100

    tbh think 95 is fine.

not sure what it will be like with 91 though.

minor should be able to tell you a few things about it :D

yeah...i think the 100 is an ethanol blend though....

    OK... just an update....

I pulled out the 85 jet and put in an 80.... it runs much better....

it doesnt splutter off the line as much... and i think its better in the top end.

I think ill try maybe a smaller idle jet as i have the mixture screw pretty much all the way in....

ill try and get some video up this week.....

just keep an eye on the temp guage, if its L.C...

or the plug colour if its A.C...

running a bit rich is better than a bit weak ;)

cant wait to see the vids :D

yep... its AC....so ive been checking the plug....

with the 85 it was a bit dirty.....

with the 85 (and less so with the 80) at full throttle there is a quiet sound like an AM radio.... i think its the sound of fuel going in.... it that right....

what i really want to do is put the airbox back on... but i think ill have to reduce the main jetting even more.... is that right?

yeah usually 8-10 sizes down jet for air box ;)

ive opened the insides up on my air box, and done a few little mods, and now
theres very little performance difference between my open filter and modded airbox!!

apart from induction noise is halfed, it dont conk out in the wet, looks stock and goes just as fast with a smaller main-jet (uses less fuel)

    ;)

    thanks man...

    what carb do you have....?

i drilled a couple of holes in the front of the airbox, and expanded the holes in the baffle (inside the airbox) but it didnt flow enough air for the 85-90 jets i had in there.....

so if its good with a 80 jet and a pod filter, id be looking for something in the low 70s with the airbox?
