im not sure man.... there was a 60 jet in there somewhere..... (its the middle sized jet) no idea what slide....
ok....i confirmed the 2nd smallest jet (the middle sized one i guess) is a 60..... anyway....i put in the 85 jet.....and it made stuff all difference. its weird....seems to go ok at full throttle....even from standing still..... if i nail it off the line, it pulls pretty quick. unfortunatly this is no good for riding in traffic. at the moment its got 6x4g rollers and 3x3g rollers....tomorrow night i might put it back to the opposite pattern again. other than that...im out of ideas......
so theres 3 jets in the bottom of the carb? usually 2... take a pic of the carb if you can m8. probably needs a thicker needle in all fairness. 3 jets doesent sound right for a dell 21 tho..
yep there are 3... one is really tiny tho.... ill upload a picture today also....talking to a guy here at work..... which way does the mixture screw work? i have it wound in all the way, then out a turn and a half..... i thought in was leaner.... he thinks that out may make it leaner.... also, how does it work? does this directly push the needle up and down (similar to the idle adjust)?
I think the PHBG series has 3 jets although im not 100%, Starter,Idle,Main. EDIT: As for the mixture screw... Screw in to lean it out/Screw out to richen.
mid throttle will still be the needle an mabey the atomiser depending how far into travel the throttle is.. should be able to trim it close with a thicker needle tho.
i dunno about the thicker needle.... is this a common problem? do other people need different needles?
As no two bikes are the same, one engine could have exact same setup as you and have different carb settings... so its only ever possible to give rough guide to what you should be looking at running... dont forget tho, as your down under [lol] theres difference in atmospheric pressure and air temp... so this also makes it difficult to give you a rough guide.. My advice would be to invest in a dellorto carb tuning manual and go through each section individually.... just my 2p tho.
theres one on ducatimedia.. cant for the life of me find the link but its INCREDIBLY indepth.. googling will find what your after or buy a book an teach us all a thing or two LOL
From left to right [for future ref]... Main jet, Idle jet, Starter jet. BTW simon, it wasnt anything against you, it will benefit you if anything because theyre full of info on fine tuning etc.
thanks james...i appreciate any advise.... like ive said before...im a turbo efi man.... this stuff is like black magic....hehe ok...in the bike atm... main jet = 85 (previously 90...same problem) idle jet = nfi (stock)..... starter jet = 60 (stock)
bet it has a thin needle... try lifting it up just to rule out rich/lean identification... go up one at a time right up tto bottom notch.. you will know if its getting worse and will then know the prob with the needle and the extent.
so move the circlip down the needle...one notch at a time..... if it exadurates the problem then thats it? are needles easy to get?
they are simple enough to get/messure... go to the dell website and grab a set of verniers... get a completly opposit needle messurement wise and go from there.. will tell you all you need to know
also...something of note..... the carby gets very cold... after riding for half an hour, it is wet with condensation..... is this normal?
low revs untill you get to higher speeds... takes ages to accelerate an basicly shit flat performance.. you need a pipe already
