Hi. I have a 125 Sinnis Strada. The drive belt snapped after only 3.5 years. Don't know if this is common? Anyway, I eventually managed to get the plastic cowling and the cover off. Another 30 minutes to get all the bits of the belt out.

The annoying thing is that the kick start shaft has come out and I cannot twist it around enough to get the spring back on. Also scared I might lose a few fingers. Are there any tips to putting this back on? Don' want to ring the garage in defeat.

    TIA

you want to twist the spring not the kickstart itself. the idea is to get the spring clipped onto the cover spigiot first, then a set of clamp molegrips to grip the tiny stubby of the string and you twist the molegrips round , once you have it this far the other hand is used to insert the kickstart spline and moon gear into place then you can let the molegrips release the spring and slip onto the moon gear, then its a case of using a screwdriver to adjust the spring while you hold pressure on the kickstart moon gear so you can get it to seat flush. once thats done its a case of flipping over the cover while holding the moongear inplace with hand and sliding the circlip ove rthe shaft and seating it in its slot, this all holds the kickstart in place and you can then releax the pressure off.

here its Vert showing how its done

Thanks for your help on this. So it looks like I have to install it into the cover? Only problem is, the lug that holds the large part of the spring in place is on the bike side and not on the cover side. Will give the mole grips a go though.

    Cheers
