Don't know what your skill set is but tyre levers are relitively inexpensive,an with some rim protectors for the rims-loads of vids on u-tube might save you a few bob,no idea about balancing mind.

Just thought i'd throw that in as i would have thought car tyre machines only operate within a certain range, but as i have'nt had a car since 1985 i may be wrong, good luck. :) .

Some car wheels (minilites etc) come in sizes down to 10" though. I havent seen it done but i reckon mostly its cos the fitters dont want to rather than cant

Personally i'd be concerned fitting a scooter tyre using a car tyre machine, noticed the action can be quite severe, could that damage thinner tyres ?if everything's not lined up and centred properly?.

I'm sure that why motor bike tyres can't be done on a tyre machine, they use massive forces to fit and remove, on a ped you should be able to do it on the side of the road, as most older scooters had a separate inner tube, it doesn't take much to remove a ped tyre, like mr trentham say's,get some tyre levers, or take the wheel into college, see what you tutor say's.

There are machines that do bike tyres out there.. If its a manual machine where youre controlling the pressure and it can be adjusted down to 10" i dont fully see where damage would come in?

I honestly did't know if a college tyre machine would allow for car/motorbike/scooter variety. Tyre irons are a good cheap way of saving money. Once you get them, they are yours to keep.:D

i take mine to ATS and they don them no probs for £5 and national tyres fit them aswell its not the size of the rim thats the problem on them machines its the thickness if there really thin then they cant and moped tyre should be fine but my mates lad cant get his rs50 tyres done cos there really thin
