   Hey, what does this actually do?
   as i've had alot of trouble with it before proper rattling etc,
   is it 100% needed?
   and again, what does it do?

   Just a thought it aint an anti rattle shim to stop pads moving about? Hopefully someone who knows will confirm or prove me wrong
