ok as most will know i broke the original engine that came on the sr so i took it all apart bla bla and kept all the bits its now come to the engine being ready to go back in the bike and the problem is nothing is fitting how it came out checked the net to make sure i was putting it in right and it still wont work. only thing thats changed is the engine has gone from ols shape (nut on inside) to new shape (nut on outside) mounts seem the same size so if any one could give me a hand here id be extremely greatful ill get some pics of what the problem is later but if any one looks at this post and immediately knows what im doing rong then id appreciate that too thanks james
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame ok well had a look at the old engine which is no longer mine and the mounts (on the engine) are different and i dont have a clue how im supposed to fix this problem my mobiles just chargin atm will have pics up in 10mins but im stumped wuda thought the fact that they both piggy engines would mean same mounts :msn1:
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame http://s607.photobucket.com/albums/tt158/baitsr/?action=view¤t=Video003.flv btw first mount you see in the vid is the new engine second mount is the old one problem is on the new mount there is what looks like a bearing with a rubber seal around it which is as wide and abit wider then the thickness of the mount where as on the old engine it was thinner than the mount hopefully this makes sence again any help would be greatly appreciated as i need to get the engine in and the bike finished quick cheers james
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame nah it will fit mate it looks different beacuse u have engine bushes on the sr at the different place but it will fit through easy.
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame it dont fit with the spacer bolts are way too short without they too long http://s607.photobucket.com/albums/tt158/baitsr/?action=view¤t=Video001.flv that little bit of bolt sticking out on the side it actualy manages to stick out is what i have 2 screw bushes onto and on the otherside there is just no sppace atall. the problem is on the new engine the bit of rubber and the metal tuber is way to thick so the bolt is being saced out already if you get me and its making them not reach
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame you need to fit sr bearings in where the mount is as the engine you have has bushes
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame figured so is this a matter of nocking the old ones out and getin mate to give me the ones in my old engine? or is it not that simple and also a hammer and socket do the job?
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame just had a go at geting one of the sr ones out and im guessing ima need 2 buy new ones any one know where they sell these? and how much im gna be spending?
Re: mounting 125series 3 engine in sr125 frame ok so i got the bearings and all that but i cant get the second old rubber thing out of the mount it literaly just makes whatever i hit it with bounce right back off and ive hit my hand now about 400 too many times is ther a trick to geting these out?
kk well problem is my mums put a deadline on when the bike is to be finished otherwise she wants it gone and tbh ive put too much time and effort into this for me to let it go that easily bike is nearly all together ive manager to get one of the rubber mounts out but theres one left if any one can help me with geting this last mount out then id really appreciate it as ive spent the whole day at it and got no wer what i need to know is how to get the rubber mount out ive tried with a socket and hammer literally all day and failed and i bent a g clamp with another method i came up with and i also need to know how to get the bearing for the sr mount in if you are capable of doing this how much would you do it for? i live in west london postcode is w13 i went to aprilia dealers and they said they cant get any of the bearing s but due to there being such little movement and stress on these bearings that the ones i have will do (the ones outa my old engine) thanks james
if u have a look on shiny redtuning.net the bush kits he sell's come with a long bolt which i think you use to drag the bushes out have a look and knock one up should be cooking then
just soak it with wd40, place a socket over it with a extension bar and hit it out, i think they only come in and out in one direction, been a while since ive had to do bushes so cant remember all my tips atm
right 2 sockets, fat one like you would use to untighten a drive shaft in a car (cant think of the mm because i dont have a nut or socket infront of me  anyway big socket on one side, small long reach on the other (that fits the bush) drop a thin long bolt through (through socket, bush, other socket) put a nut on and just tighten the bolt, the long thin socket will push the bush through into the biger socket you can use this method to put them back in aswell yay im getting my brain back :w00t: EDIT, if you have a variator bar thingy .. the bit you slide into the variator, one of these will work instead of a long socket and you may not be able to find a bolt to get through unless u have 1/2" drive sockets
thanks for all info ive had a word with shiney so hopefully it will make it easier burns i tried sumin a lil bit like your idea i got a g clamp small enough that the bit that moves up and down when you twist it was the right size and had a big socket on the otherside but i bent the clamp but cheers bruv hopefully ill be able to get it done soon
