My braincase is so full of .....love,dealing with the 70 at the mo,even though body's saying holiday- gonna get value out of the buss pass/mind. However, alway's on the think...reckon 1ltre of Everbuild stripper off e/b going cheap & as it's not a viable with present extension cord(s),i.e.won't link them up (3 floors down, from nearest powerpoint) - decided to wire the joins/welds/lines,on the fork shrouds.frame.swingarm..outside my front door,in the small strip we have just outside,so a litre should lighten the load of sanding to be relitively easy....as a bit f.hacked off, presently,(methinks, needs a 'mini' blowout,to take a load off. ).mk.
Hit a snag today.., it'll be no problem, cleaning frame/fork shrouds/swing-arm/as i'd like......but,there is a problem with the back end sadly...the 2 wings coming off the frame/1's half to 3/4's split,so may have to resurrect old welding skills, not too sure with fixing/self due to load bearing issues coming into the picture. May give it a rest for a while now, nice little add-on?....swing-arm bolt, grrrr., -upside.?.think battery box/area's gonna come up pukka,eventually.........downside.. - need c-spanner for headstock,upside..?.,get 1 in seven days,i'm gonna stop now...could go on all day with this C(arnival)70..
if you need a mig or stick mark, got two migs and two sticks at the ex,s if you wanna hold out till I pick um up...borrow one if you like when I get um back.might be a few weeks at least mind.
Got the t-cut from the sorting office,just now.as could'nt deliver yesterday,as busy - so,be doing panels/front mudguard/front u-plate.....see how that turns out & what colour it's painted.
looks like they'd clean up no bother.couple of thin aluminium washers clamped and fibreglassed on the lugs will do that jobby no bother and wont rust through later...gives the spacers something to grip on to too.how's the lump looking?? Thinking for a while about a C50 cos of this build..now I'm working...same old dilema..have the money but no frigging time..
The lump is oiled/sealed&bagged - very last orders, right up till rest is finished.!.,hoping?with fresh oil/points/plug/all settings checked, too be a slot in viable....if not,be sent off to Yorkshire/methinks., T-cut don't work on cub 'suntans' uber well..( front guard),got frame/forks/swing-arm indoors now,for a basic clean....be looking at 1/2 hr each morning(m-f) with the 'sanding'. I'm getting terrified if the thought of moving around my flat atm, have little lids of ball-races,in this spot, that spot..
Frames not going to be a major...mild bit of corrosion,nowt bad,however swing-arm's rotted/kickstart side,by bush..
by the time youve ground that rust out and made a filler piece,,be better off bunging it and get another swing arm..dont look too bad but it ain't hard to get a better one than faff about welding it.
Swear t.gd,you're fekking psychic.sometimes.., checked (c/overseas,main),looking at £55.00/£75.00 for new,as won't justify the prices some of these classic knobs are charging.!.,shame really,as touch tested polish & paint is like new.....have to get a new bolt anyhow,I did'nt know it was 'screwed' in,oooops.(wheels 1st,though).
Ile keep a look out and if I hear of one ,Ile let ya know..ive done a fair bit on c range in my time, mainly clutch and head/cam stuff.never had a gear box problem but theres nothing in them to worry about ..heard the selector forks can be a bitch bending after the spring gets a bit weak and gear changes have to have a BOOT to get it to change, other than that...their bullit proof if you change the oil every 5yrs(LOL).
Knock up a list,by 12 noon today,i.e...measurements i'm running on it at the moment #1.swing-arm bolt,(mm +length.end 2 end) #2.spindle size ("^") #3.think i'm short shocked on it (post up pic +length's by) + i'll list a few other details like pillion peg set up,chain 'protector',mk .
wont be long before your be painting at the rate your going.looking well nice mate.have you gotta close up of the bit that needs welding on it.
from what I can see, looks like its not that bad.if you could get it all cleaned with a glass or walnut shell media and welded up youve got a goer there.ive had worse on a few when I was a teenager and just rubbed it down and filled it with isopon and they lasted a while before it fell out..but they ain't bad..repairable..got that frame just in time before it went the way most of them go...makes me wonder why Honda ain't done something about it considering the good rep the cub range has got.good zinc dip and it wouldn't happen as fast..or a plastic liner to keep the water out of the seams..every cub in India I saw was perfect in the back..
