Only problem with red,is be tempted then to gather together original decals, then + then an then-be heading in the direction I want to avoid, par factory condition, original style, instead just a reasonably well put together working bike.;).
get you with the green - 70 I had back on the late 70's/early 80's was friday night curee.puree green,ick...was thinking more along the lines of a dark green semi-gloss army style.

a nice dark green would look OK, if youre wanting more utilitarian vehicle look, cant argue with the colour they paint the army tanks and landrovers... that brown/cream colour. getting me wanting to buy strip down/build a cheap workhorse now.
    I hate you!

Utilitarian, got it in one.!.,having had a 90 before & being so inspired by how well & truly (and righteously) used they are especially overseas -
want to put this together to be used, not fawned over,so paint work for me,will have to be going along appropriate lines.mk.

Petrol tank's in perfect condition(no dents, scrapes, etc),probs.just the camera caught the light wrong -
dabs of rust proofer in the ingrained (+1"around),zinc primer, paint, laquer polish/reckon'll do the job.
Frame's not going to be touched till I get the tools,to be ordered next week....will have a few bits ready to be done as above then.:)....still have to build spraying &drying booth in backyard, but can get all my wood for free++coathangers.!.
So totally FRIED rechargeables battery earlier,ha ha......'Big-Boys',coming out at the weekend (mains+side handle).mk

Military Dark Green paint is sold in 16oz. cans at Halfrauds if you're interested, Mark. I wouldn't use zinc primer as the modern ones are crap. I'd use acid etch primer instead as that has miles better adhesion to the metal and high pressure jet washing won't shift it.

Looking around at small job lots on paint,at the moment...so colour's still undecided, little new to non-grafitti style painting,so it'll be a hard think before final decision.
Seen 2 styles of zinc oxide primer so far,1 at 66%.which seems to be a norm. + 99%(weld through).
Acid etch,is something i'm not familiar with using & will bear further research by me,however....seeing where the advice is coming from;),think'll be motivated to be looking.:).

    Update:-
chainguards are done.just need to clean the inners...which I won't be repainting/just greasing.
petrol tank is done.including around the petrol cap.which I was slightly nervous about/as haf one go up on me once.when riding back in the 80'$.base needs light paint strip(see last 3).
    exhaust is done.ready to fit.including mounting bracket.which was a b...h.!.
    front plates done.back was worst.not corroded/just ingrained.
    battery holder bits are done.totally...
even managed to do around the joins for the spare bars for the V/C.,
waiting for tools, hopefully by next w/end,to properly dismantle all the nuts/bolts on the fork shrouds/s-arm/frame - all of which,i'll be using paint stripper on(+petrol tank base),getting a bit fragged now/yup.!.,
minor detailing on all the bits i've just done/nothing major.essentially all basically ready to paint,
bit of minor wire wheeling on joints/welds/lines,of last 3,rub down with alcohol to clean...then build up the frame work for hanging(during painting, etc.) in the back yard .........which i've figured, will take me 2 weeks to the day to finish.!.o_O.
catch you lot next Sunday.full week - reckon 4hrs sleep per night m-f if i'm lucky.mk.
