I've had a bit of an eventful morning, I was riding to work as normal, and my Runner
    broke down.

I've whipped the engine out, and took off the head, and I've holed my piston. Luckily the barrel still looks in very good condition, so it should only take a new piston, rings and a gasket set. And I'll be on the road again.

cheers minor i thought it was caused by lean running, but didnt think about partial throttle.

i was going to fit a bigger main, but i was thinking fuck me if its running that lean, what the hells it gonna go like with the proper jet in :w00t:

Heres a very interesting article ive got on my computer from somewhere, i may as well share ;)

im running an 88 main jet (pre-mix)

cant remember the needle position...been a while..

And theres no carbon anywhere on the crown or head, in the pictures is how it was when i pulled the head off after 9 months running :w00t:

yeahh could of been worse m8....the barrel looks in very good shape considering, no sign of scoring ;)

must of been the 33:1 pre-mix, which could of also contributed to the lean running..

you have to put a bigger main in for pre-mix...cause oil aint fuel if you get me :D

    detonation
bang straight through the centre of the piston
im suprised it wasnt destroying plugs before this

what ignition do you have in it

more fuel wil stop the deto as well as like minior said
but its time for a decent inner rotor as well

stock ignition...but i changed my Laser for a yasuni c16 nearly 2 weeks ago.

I had nearly 9 months trouble free running with that kit and the laser, im assuming its running leaner now ive fitted the yasuni ???

yeah it may be running leaner but its also may be running hotter if the yasuni is scavengine better up top which we know it is for sure

you will be going to new heights in rom and the ignition curve of the stock ignition is not designed to do that and will be holding to much advance
Fattening it up will fix the issue

however if you decide to get a decent ignition retarding it up top will add to over rev and power

or file the pickup points upwards by a mm or two, wind the clutch up and set the dile mix well and youd never notice the dip at bottom ;)

ajustable timing is a fucking good thing to have, but the only one for true road use (no fucking about with charging battery's) is the polini an even thats not inner roter,

if you have one with more than 10w output ill buy 10 of em LOL

yeah you could do that with the pickup that would work fine

Im using a non charging system
I was going to hook up my 10 watt system but couldnt be botherd
I have a solar panel under the seat when i stop i just pull that out and sit it on top of the seat and it charges the battery
Of course on the gold coast we have lots of sun
im not sure how it would work in england

your loosing the lip over the exhaust side of the piston, would have broken down to the ring in the end.. lift the needle to the highest position (make it struggle and throttle mad to get any revs basicly) then work down.. vary the speed but do continuous throttle position checks.. as in 1/4 throttle, check the tone, same at half and 3/4 throttle.. then work out the needle position/diff dimentions of required needle. if your really picky about it and make lots of notes you can work out the exact needle from throttle positions and needle settings ;) (dell website for needle dimentions)

Who would of thought an exhaust change could cause all this aggro :confused:arc:
