Well my Sym started to judder just over half way home, tick over seemed to be OK a few revs and it would start to cut out, so thought it was fuel starvation at first, left it a while and it seemed to run a little better. Kept going but the juddering got worse, all or nothing in power, and then finally the engine gave up. Turning it over on starter I could smell fuel, so had to be lack of spark. Took the inner box out and had a look around but nothing obvious that I could see, so started the pushing up over one of the local hills thinking to myself it's down hill on the other side! A passing cyclist made a quip as he slowly passed bye, sweat dripping from his brow, I laughed and made some equally inane comment between the puffing and panting. Then another cyclist came by and stopped, asked what I thought the issue was and after me saying no spark, said he would be back in 5 mins with his van. 10 mins later back at home, thanked him and promised to aid another one day by return of the favour as the guy would not accept any cash for assistance, he was also a biker! Had a look just after 9 p.m. and had it fixed within 15 minutes with new wires and crimp connectors going to the coil, the ends of the wires had just corroded and frayed. I suppose it was only a minor issue and easily found with use of a meter and a wiring diagram. It is 10 years old I suppose. Done my exercise for a while. Adrian
