    pod filter may need a little extra jetting up, the stock air boxes do restrict low a little .

    one thing would be running a dual filter pod, they have an inner foam then an outer sleeve foam , it helps keep water out of the primary foam filtering , i would oil up both filter foams.

    other problem is getting the filter away from the wheel wash, any dirt/water thrown up via back wheel will coat a filter in no time and that water then gets drawn into the carb. summer time its not so bad but in winter it can become a right pain in the rear end.

    i was wondering could you make up a small metal bracket and use one of the variator cover screws to secure it, then you could bolt the replacement filter into place and it would be more secure than zip ties ;) . this way you keep the stock box and all its waterproof ability and its not going to flop around like the old broken one did
