there are several levels of big bore kit, standard 70, sport 70, mid race 70 and race 70.

I think it goes without saying that given all things same, the higher state of tune will last the least. Anyway, you don't list a crank change and the most tuned require this for longlivity. I have two engines, three shortly, and opted for a sport kit for one, and a single piston ringed kit for the other.......... the single ring is reputed to wear out three times quicker than the sport two ringed kit.

Are you doing the work yourself, as it financially makes a lot of difference. On my scoot I could change the piston ring(s) in a couple of hours with ease, so changing them once a year wouldn't bother me.

How much do you intend to use your bike, what sort of mileage you expecting to clock up.

you can get pretty good wear life out of single ringed kits, something people forget is 99% of single ringed kits are alloy for better heat dissipation, and are nikasil plated which gives the single ring an easier time ;)

The nikasil plated bore encourages the 2T oil film to cling to the wall of the cylinder,
alot better than an iron bore cylinder :good:

The polini cast iron is an extremely reliable twin ringed 70 kit, although not the cheapest 70 kit to buy, it is quite low revving and durable, and if looked after will easily outlast the other cheaper makes :good:

I have the polini kit that Dave advises, you ask in your first post, is it worth it. That kit totally transformed the 0-50 of my scoot, prior it was embarassing, and that was destricted, now I can easily keep up with traffic and mostly out pace it.

I would go with Daves advice, because you have stated you need to do 20 miles a day, as opposed to a weekend toy, and the polini kit is reliable.

Permakits are one of the cheapest brands going, and Im a strong beliver of "you get what you pay for", and "buy cheap buy twice" & for good measure "pay peanuts, get monkeys"..

Hey i have had my stage6 70 for a while, its the single ringed one,, think its mid race. Ive done about 3-4k miles on it and its still running how it was :D, just don't go thrashing it when its not been warmed up, think that's why most mid race 70 kits don't last.

like anything in life, it all depends on useage and how its treated...

By its very nature, a single ring will wear out quicker than a twin ring, but what im trying to say is, a single ring kit if treated right will last a surprising amount of time...
