My son has an automatic bike that he uses for takeaway delivery. He has just had it MOTd new tyres etc and the next day drove it and it cut out. took it back to garage and they said it needed a £300 service as it was bogging out. Not knowing anything about this he paid for them to do some additional work for £60 and it cut out when he got it back. He is now trying to sell it. It is 2012. I am writing to get some advice about this as he is short of money and just spent nearly £300 on it and is getting fed up. I am also not keen on him selling it and getting another second hand bike that he has different problems with.
can anyone advise please on what is the actualproblem and does it really need that sort of money spent on it?

What 'additional' work did they do?

Sounds like it needed the problem sorting out first, then service it but it's to late now.

There wasnt a problem when it went in for its MOT - it was tyres, new horn, bent gear lever labour MOT fee etc the problem occurred after MOT. The work done afterwards to sort it out was £60 and so we thought it would be fine but its not. its working but cutting out. I am not sure exactly what the last bit of work entailed and will find out although my son has asked for his money back!!
