I got that notification but never received a fine so you might get lucky like I did :D

Sounds like your caught between a rock and a hard place. :( .,
Not much you can really do to explain you did'nt know any bettet unfortunatly
    'cept X your fingers.,
Checked DVLC website and they don't give any leeway as far as I can see,
hopefully you'll get lucky seeing as you've got a reminder and corrected fault immediateatly,
would think though in all fairness (?) they'd only fine you if your bike 's already sorn-
you get your reminder / and / don't reapply in a specified time period.... .

That's just it guys I didn't get a reminder! They shoulda sent a fine a mth after I brought it but they haven't, I only scorned it myself
Because I thought to myself when I want to retax it, I didn't know if the previous owner had sorned it or not, so it woulda been difficult to tax it, so I'd better sorn it myself!

Strange one this, when i bought the current katana i checked to see if it was sorned already and the dvla site said it didn't need it as it was already done until august 2014.

Read the bottom of the page any new owner also needs to declare sorn even if it's already sorned by the previous owner
