jus got a ticket for £30 for white incators and break light fair enuf ...but i asked them if i got amber bulbs if it would be ok and he said no but ...is there any offical info on this as he said he will come check that i have replaced my lenses ...and if not he will seize my bike which he cannot do unless he sees it on the road illegaly
As I said before but I suppose a new topic is a better idea... As far as I'm aware there is a legal limit on lenses in terms of how dark they are and also the quality of the plastic so you will find e-marked lenses if they are smoked will not be as dark as say if you used lense spray on stock ones. Clear ones are perfectly legal but there may also be the issue of e-marking not that it's even checked or anyone cares about it in general. Of course you also need to fit properly coloured bulbs for them to be legal as well. Not just clear ones painted with nail varnish. So clear and coloured bulbs are totally legal. Smoked could be a bit of an issue but say they are smoked and have an e-mark then you could probably use that as a way to tell the copper to fuck off.
u no anywhere i can get e-marked smoked lenses jus so when the copper turns up i can put him in his place
these are the exact lenses http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-AE...cycle_Parts&hash=item2a1c083286#ht_500wt_1185
No idea when it comes to aerox's as I've never owned one or bought parts for one. They may not even do them for your bike as it's generally cheaper to produce them without. You might as well throw stock lenses on it or clear ones with coloured bulbs as you aren't going to get off the fine as the issue was with the colour of your bulbs. If you had the right coloured bulbs in the first place the police officer wouldn't have given a crap as that's the real safety issue.
Basically it's pretty much bollox and the guy is being a pain in the arse as you had the wrong coloured bulbs which probably pisses them off a lot. You could try and get some sort of note from an MOT centre that says they would pass it with those lenses or something of the sort but I'd expect if you get coloured bulbs right away the copper wont have an issue.
Indicators must show an amber light front and rear, it makes no difference if this is acheived by clear bulbs and amber lenses or amber bulbs and clear lenses, as long as the indicator light appears amber whilst in operation then there is no problem. The issue of the lenses not being 'e' marked is another matter which could be dealt with by the police but it would either be by an arsey one or one you pissed off by failing the attitude test. The black lenses can be an issue as they may not let enough light from the bulb through and not be visible in daylight, which is a safety issue as a following car might not see your brake light. This can be overcome by fitting brighter bulbs but again be careful as the black lenses are probably not 'e' marked.
its fine aslong as there is no white showing from the rear of the bike.. so if you've got amber bulbs thats fine.. he's just wafling on thinking he makes the law. some lexus lights show white from the rear but they have e marks.. I bought one for my old speedfight and police pulled me and i said it was emarked and he made me put my old red lense back over it lol
