hi i have a yamaha aerox 50 just rebuilt the engine with a motoforce racing crank and a stage 6 street race 70cc kit, the bike will start off first few kicks and will idle for around 5-10 seconds and will just cut out, without warning. i am using a 17.5mm dellorto carb with a 92 jet, ran it on a 100 and a 85 jet but does just the same as the 92, i try to keep it going by revving it but will just cut out the same as before

any ideas what could be happening here and how to solve the problem?

im no genius but it sounds like its sucking too much air in. mine did that a few days ago and i just had a lil turn of the mixture screw and it worked.

like i said im no genius but this solved my problem

this might sound like a stupid question but which way should i turn it? is it right for a richer mixture or left for a more lean mixture? how does this work?

i agree it sounds like mixture screw, just try it half a turn one way, if it makes it worse turn it back half a turn, then turn it half a turn the other way, if this makes no difference, then turn it a little more, or it might be the air filter, check it :)

the jet will have no effect as its idle curcit.. so this does point to idle mix altho this isnt definative as it would still start/run fine wiht the slightest throttle and would rev out clean if revved..

if its just been rebuilt make sure you have your vac pipe's connected correctly, the inlet is tight to the engine/around the carb and your float level in the carb is correct...

id like to give you the simple answer, but it sounds like its too tight on the crank from the rebuild.. wich means you need to rebuild it again, possibly wiht new bearings as its run tight... check the endfloat. did the crank spin freely with 1 finger and your thumb? if not the crank didnt go in correctly

Take it back to the shop who re-built it. If you done it yourself follow the above posts.

sounds ether fucking lean or tight.... id go with super lean tbh.. check your pipework is all correct.. make sure the manifold is sealing correctly and check thew oil seals are in the correct position/not leaking...
