Basically, Since I have had my bike, if I leave it for anytime longer than 45 minutes, when I start it up it smokes like a good'un for at least 5 minutes. It can be embarrassing some times!
I've checked the plug and its running spot on, not oiling up or nothing. Thought it could have maybe been the rings? but the amount of compression coming from the exhaust is un-real.
Once it's warmed up its fine, it has ALOT of bottom end power, beats all of my mates 172's with carbs and pipes up to about 55mph. I just can't get my head around why it smokes so much? Was thinking about the oil pump could have been turned up? And I've only ever put Shell VSX oil in it. If any one has any ideas of what it could be, would be appreciated :)
(I did a search, but nothing like this came back)

    Thanks, Conor.

most two stroke engines smoke when cold. A few minutes. Once the engine warms up, the smoking stops. The problem is when it doesn't stop.

id change the oil p[ump... if it still does it then ye its just the warm up smoke... if its a pump system they tend to "collect" alot of oil in the bottom end... this is obviously whats burning off...

might have a load of carbon and oily residue built up in the pipe.

could always try to clean it out.

I did think it was warm up smoke, but the smoke can be quite thick at times and I've never had any peds smoke like this? So yeah, will source a new pump tomorrow, as far as I can remember it is a pretty straight forward swap over? Thanks for the help

Will get it off tomorrow and attempt to clean it out haha, any ideas? I woulda said soak it with petrol? Will have a quick look on google haha. again, thanks pal :)

Okay so took pipe off, scraped as much out of the downpipe as I could, then put the blow torch on it, wasn't the best job in the world, but got rid of most (about a week ago) it's now getting really bad. The bike always smells of petrol, is eating spark plugs, down on power, and is smoking twice as much now, and got to the point where I'm at a traffic lights any longer then 30 seconds it just chokes up, coughs and splutters when I pull away. One of the lads at work has got a series 1/2 engine in pieces, said hes gonna bring the oil pump in thursday, will the be okay on my bike? Thanks.

Okay, So I took the carb off, checked the main jet and its a 96, but as I undone the float bowl a bit and waited for petrol to drain out, it just didn't stop, and it was coming out pretty fast! so took the bowl off, checked the float etc, made sure it was all correct, stopped pissing out after that, but still has a strong smell of petrol, and the plug is ALWAYS wet? put a air filter on it, the needle was on the top notch, so put it down 1, does pretty much the same as but louder (sounds like a dog, smokes etc) took the filter off, but kept the rubber that connects to airbox pointing up, and it runs sweet as nut (still smokes and is a c**t to start) gonna bang a 105 jet in it an put the filter on and see what thats saying.

Banged a 25mm on my bike last night, open filter, 105 main jet, again, running weird, would run good with choke on but not off?? took the air filter off an run okay. took a picture of the plug after. its a bit darker than the picture (flash) seems to be a bit lean?
