Hi. Im not mechanically minded, but someone knocked over my scooter and it now wont start. A passerby had a look and said something was broken that sits near the black disc thats undertheengine cover under the seat. It looked similar to the spark plug lead. I also found a black short hose that looked almost sliced. Howecer i also think this is some kind if overflow. Im not aure. Based on my rubbish description what do you think? Or what else could it be? Mamy thanks.

Can you post a couple of pictures up of what you are looking at?

Is the broken 'thingy' L-shaped, like this?

That's the spark plug cap and they are quite brittle and if it's broken, the bike definitely won't start. Most car parts shops will be able to sell you a replacement cheaply (except Halfrauds, who will charge you £££) and it should unscrew off the HT lead - if it doesn't unscrew, then cut it off as close to the plug as you can and screw the new one onto the cable, making sure that the screw thread grips the conductor sire inside the HT lead.

My bike is a Jonway YY50QT-31. It's been knocked over a few times, and has always got going again. So when I got back to work and was told someone had knocked my bike over I initially didn't think anything of it. I will take some pictures tomorrow as my bike is currently five miles away locked under a shutter.

I did however get a picture from the net and circled what the nice chap who stopped to help said was broken. Many thanks for all your help guys! Also, I know all about Chinese bikes but at the time it was all I could do. I want to get a proper bike but I have some saving to do just yet. xD

Not having seen it/it is a 2 piece acc.to cmpo pic - so it might just be the cover you've damaged,
but best be on the safe side an replace it . ;).,
May not have caused? damage to the carb.casting per say as it's a push fit but might also bear in mind
if has chinese carbs are relitively cheap to rebuild or? buy from what i've seen.mk. :) .

The choke is mostly plastic and will break in preference to the carb body, at least that's my view.
