Hi, thanks for any help. I apologise if this thread is kind of vague.

Right. I went to work yesterday and my bike was fine. No problems whatsoever. It started raining through the day, not heavily but it was that fine rain that soaks you through (ha-ha!) I finished work, started up my bike and was slightly alarmed that it cut out five seconds into my journey home and was quite difficult in getting going again. However, after much kicking it did eventually start again.

My journey home was mostly fine, except every now and then it would sort of lose power, almost as if being starved of petrol, and slow down. I am not in any way mechanically minded so am at a complete loss as to what his is. I mentioned the rain because I don't know if maybe it has a part to play. Apologies if that's a moronic thing to say!

So yeah, does anybody have ANY idea what this problem could be? As I say, going to work yesterday all was well. It was only as I was coming home these problems started, so I'm inclined to believe (touch-wood) that it's nothing too serious.

    Thank you. :)

Sounds like water in the float bowl of the carburettor. Water is heavier than petrol (duh) and will sink to the bottom of the float bowl, where it will stop the float from fully dropping and can starve the engine of fuel.

Open the drain screw of the carb, drain it off, close the screw then attack the plug lead and cap with some WD-40 and you should be OK.
